Flamingo Sunset

This card was created after I got a request to make a gift set for a flamingo fanatic! I was totally inspired by a card made by Chari Moss from the Lawn Fawn design team that showed two flamingos and an awesome distress ink sunset.

For my card, I used the Lawn Fawn Flamingo Together stamp set, distress oxides, and Craftin’ Desert Divas Inside Scalloped Octagon Dies.

I cut the largest octagon out of white and black cardstock. I used the center of the white octagon and my foam blending tools to create the sunset out of distress oxides, in the colors fired brick, rusty hinge, and fossilized amber.

I stamped out each of the flamingos onto Canson watercolor paper and colored them in with Zig realbrush markers.

I used a Lawn Fawn stitched hillside die to create the ground out of some black cardstock and lined everything up to see where to place the palm trees. Like Chari, I stamped the trees in black ink, so they only looked like silhouettes in the background.

I reassembled the octagon, but used the outside frame in the black cardstock, popped up with some foam tape. I glued down the ground and the flamingos and then added the whole thing to an octagonal card base of the same size. In the end,

I thought all of the black cardstock was a bit too flat, so I used a clear Wink of Stella brush marker and colored in the ground to break it up a bit.

I stamped the sentiment “Wishing you a FLAMAZING day.” on the inside with Lawn Fawn’s Milo’s ABCs as well as some sentiments from A Bicycle Built for You.

I paired this card with a matching mini traveler’s notebook and bookmark, made with various different supplies from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by!
