This card was inspired by the awesome Jenn Shurkus. I seen her card and knew I had to give it a try.
For mine, I used a navy blue and a light blue from the Gansai Tambi watercolor set on some 110 lb. cardstock. I made some very loose lines across the cardstock and set it aside to dry.
For the watermelons, I used an older Recollection's set from Michael's. My first stamping attempt did not go that well; I pushed too hard on the acrylic block and the images came out a little uneven and bold, so I restamped them. Instead of tossing it, I figured I would just use them to test out some color combinations.
I had stamped the watermelons on Canson watercolor paper and used my Zig brush markers to color. So as I was practicing, it turned out I really liked the look of the bolder images and the unblended colors, and those actually ended up on the card.
To add a little something extra, I used my clear Wink of Stella on the rind of the watermelons.
I die cut the background panel with the largest Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle stackable, glued down the larger watermelon image, and popped up the smaller slice on top of that with a piece of Scotch foam tape.
Finally, I added the adorable sentiment to the right of the images, with Versafine ink to finish off the card.
Thanks for stopping by!
