This card was inspired by images from last year’s Daily Marker 30 day coloring challenge. I had kept the colored images in an envelope and recently rediscovered them while going through some drawers.
Perfect timing too! My second cousin just turned 1 and I thought the aliens from Lawn Fawn’s Beam Me Up would make a cute shadowbox card; one that her parents could get a kick out of too.
I used the Lawn Fawn Shadow box die, the inserts from the Spring add-on, and the banner dies from the Scalloped Box Card Pop-Up.
I cut the main box component and inserts out of 110 lb. black Recollections cardstock. I made galaxy panels for the inside using distress ink, foam blending tools, shimmer spray, and opaque white paint.
I added glow in the dark stars to the galaxy with embossing powder, as well as additional colored stars, planets, and aliens. Once the box was assembled, I added the rest of the alien guys onto the inserts.
I stamped my cousin’s name onto the banner flags with an alphabet stamp set from Sweet Stamp Shop, and heat embossed the letters in white. I used Zig cleancolor real brush markers to color them in and then went over them with a Spectrum Noir sparkle pen.
Lastly, I added an embossed “Happy Birthday” sentiment onto a blue cardstock banner and adhered it to the front of the shadow box.
Have an out of this world day!
Thanks for stopping by!
