Today I'm sharing another fun project with Thoughtful Studio's newest paper collection, Tessa's Summer Storms.
For this project I decided to dip my toes into the world of planning!
This adventure was sparked by a clearance find at my local grocery store. I happened to be perusing the craft aisles a couple months ago when I came across a Happy Planner from 2018-2019 marked down to $3.00. As I was completely new to planning, I thought that would be a great start at a price that couldn't be beat.
A little while later Hobby Lobby, JoAnn, and Michaels started clearing out their old planners and accessories as well and I was able to grab a couple stamp sets that I hoped to use to upcycle my planner.
For me, I really liked the idea of creating a new layout each week/month covered in card stock, stickers, stamps, washi, etc. that I could look back on, more so than heavy planning.
But, like most things, I'm sure I will get sucked into to the world of planners and need every sticker and cute pen that I see on Instagram; but for now I am loving overhauling my out of date planner. I thought the perfect way to get started was with some gorgeous Thoughtful Studio patterned papers, a freebie, and some ephemera! :)
I started by cutting down small pieces of card stock to trim the 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" boxes on the top and bottoms. I cut apart a sheet of ephemera from a freebie that Marie is currently offering, which you can find here, as well as the additional ephemera that comes with the digital kit.
I covered the dates and small calendar with strips of card stock and used stamps and dies to relabel the boxes. I cut and glued down the patterned card stock randomly across the rest of layout and added some stamped images.
To me, working on these layouts was mostly relaxing and satisfying, like a puzzle! Everything had a place and all the pieces fit together perfectly. Watching my video back during editing, it kind of reminded me of those "Oddly Satisfying Videos" where people cut through bars of soap and kinetic sand haha!
If you have any planner people you might like to suggest on Instagram or YouTube, I'd love to check them out, feel free to leave me a comment and let me know. :)
