It's SPOOKY TIME! 🎃👻🕷🕸💀🍬🍭🍫
I am in full Halloween mode, and I think this pumpkin head character from Kinda Cute, is the perfect mix of creepy and cute for a fun Halloween card.
To start my card, I sized my image to about 1 3/4" x 3" and printed it onto a piece of 80 lb. Neenah card stock.
Once I had it printed, I colored the image with my Copic markers.
After coloring, I fussy cut the image and started on the sentiment. I wanted the sentiment to say "Trick or Treat," pretty big on the card front, so I went into Cricut Design Space and welded together some bubble letter font. Then I used my Cricut to cut it out from 110 lb. black card stock.
My plan was to add my colored image in front of the sentiment, but it ended up covering up too much of the words, so that's when I decided a slimline would work better than an A2.
I matched a piece of orange card stock to the oranges in my image for the main 3 1/2" x 8 1/2" panel, and then layered a piece of green spiderweb card stock from Recollections, on top of that.
Next, I attached the sentiment to the top of the card. Because I was using a slimline layout now, I had more space to work with and I thought my image looked kind of bare.
So I pulled out some of my scraps of Halloween card stock to create faux washi-like strips. Then I staggered them in a zigzag pattern and added my colored image on top.
For the final step, I used a sheet of 110 lb. white card stock to create a card base and added the finished panel to the card front.
I love the way the orange pops against the green! 💚🧡 I think the zigzag edges look like a portal opening up to Halloween Town, where this little guy is waiting for his treats. 😄🎃🍭
